My only real contribution is that I think this phenomena should be called "The Slash fiction" effect.I still think back the the first Mass Effect for instance, where I was disappointing that Tali wasn't a romance-able, because she was much more interesting than the others.
In the Maiko-verse, I liked Joey and Riley the best, and liked the interactions that happened with them. And while I thought it was kind of cool that most of the characters could be put into almost all the sexual activities, some seemed odd enough that it pulled me out of the experience somewhat.
In all, while I believe it it perfectly alright to want more stuff with certain characters and to be disappointed to a mild degree that your favorite is not represented as much as you'd like, it is likewise unacceptable to expect a creator to alter their works to suit your own personal tastes to reflect your preferences. Especially in a medium such as this, where we are receiving a substantial and well crafted product for free.
asking about romancable characters or more screen time versus wanting them to participate in sex I see as different topics heh. Well unless it doesn't make sense for the character to me romancable for whatever reason.
yeah and all character in UMCC participating in all the sex stuff seemed odd enough to me to stop working on the game entirely XD.
I would not have issues with it if all the characters seemed plausable for any of the sex parts based on their personality or story events. Such is the case for a old game I made called vandread love quest.

As others have said in most games with sex pretty much everyone is fuckable so we've come to expect it.Essentially, we're a bunch of Pavlov's dogs drooling when we hear the bell because that's what we've been conditioned to do.
Although I'm sure in a few cases some people expected sex options just because it would make sense by their logic.
Like, I was expecting an optional sex scene with the book store guy because I thought it would be in-character for Maiko to offer herself in exchange for protecting Savori.
I suppose for others there could also be a sense of "incompleteness" or missed potential.
Yeah the few cases are fine. Those are not really my issue. in UMCH I even added where maiko can try to have sex with savori dad.
My issue is where people only want a sex scene for a character mainly because they don't have a sex scene. Or at least that is how it seems to me after a brief discussion with that person. Yeah probably from conditioning, or actually makes sense in other game settings they have played.
I guess I just see it the opposite when it comes to missed potential, I don't potential as if they have sex or not. for me missed potential is making all the girls boil down into either of two things. being open to casual sex (in varying extremes), or having sex in secret while covering it. imo it's really uninteresting to boil every character down to a one dimensional personality like this.
